Chapter 5 The Cauldron Finally the money arrived a few days before our visas expired. My mind was still set on finding a job so I flew to Hong Kong with the intention of being an English teacher. First interview I discovered a university degree was required. I’d been offered a fake degree at a low price the week before in Bangkok but I hadn’t known that a degree was a prerequisite for employment as an English teacher. I hardly knew anything. One of the young ladies waiting to be interviewed quietly told me of a place I should contact, but I was too silly to follow it up. Instead, Miss T and I went out to a large island nearby to see some pandas. A large prison was the main industry on the island. Later we were hitch-hiking along the circuitous main road when we were picked up by the gaol’s superintendent and his charming wife.
